Elegant cylindrical Portuguese faience jar, defined by a mildly concave mid-body, raising flaring neck and manganese- purple outlined, cobalt-blue on tin-white enamel, decorative composition.The body is characterised by an oval oblique cartouche inscribed ‘vng. to palidvm’, and encircled by Chinese influenced floral elements and an imposing female bust in fashionable headdress, known as a ‘Bella’, typical of Italian Majolica pieces.
On the neck and base a band of scrolls framed by purple.
Unguentum basilicum palidum is an unguent of anti-inflammatory properties used in the treatment of boils, erysipelas, and skin ulcers.
Canudo cilíndrico de botica, ou manga de farmácia, em faiança portuguesa, rodado, com boca alteada e revirada, ligeiramente cintado, decorado a azul contornado a vinoso, sobre esmalte branco.No bojo, cartela rectangular oblíqua com a inscrição UNG.TO PALIDUM, ladeada por elementos florais de influência chinesa e um imponente busto feminino Bella - influência da majólica italiana - com toucado à moda da época.Colo e base com tarja de volutas, rematada por filetes a vinhoso de manganês.
