Unusual dated, deep and broad lipped plate, decorated in cobalt-blue pigment on a tin-white enamelled ground.In the well, framed by a polylobate fillet, and exuberant composition with a crowned cartouche, simulating an armorial, with tulips and the date 1646. The broad lip, of clear Chinese influenced decoration extending to the well, in divided into six sections alternating chrysanthemum corollae and bunches of daisies, separated by columns topped by palmettes.On the lip reverse, six oval shaped filleted ovals encircling small fleuron, alternating with vertical stripes.The inclusion of a clear date in the decoration of this harmonious plate, is a fundamental element for the understanding of this production evolution and its interpretation. The dating of Portuguese faience pieces, always in Arabic numerals, can refer to the production year or allude to important historic events or family celebrations.It is also interesting to notice the association of the plate lip Chinese decorative grammar to the clearly European armorial, whose characteristics and depiction of a bunch of tulips are definitely not Portuguese but Northern European, probably associated to one of the Hanseatic League ports, by its similarities to other armorials in so called “Hamburg Faience” pieces, or eventually to a Dutch or Dutch related commission.

Invulgar prato datado, de covo acentuado e aba larga, decorado a azul-cobalto sobre esmalte branco. O centro é delimitado por filete polilobado que enquadra uma exuberante cartela coroada simulando um brasão, a qual está preenchida por um ramo de tulipas rematado pela data de 1646. Aba de acentuada influência da porcelana chinesa Wanli, modelo Kraak, com decoração prolongada pelo covo, formada por seis reservas decoradas, que alternam corolas de crisântemos e ramos de boninas, separadas por colunelos encimados por palmeta.No tardoz, a aba está decorada com arcos de círculo e pequenos florões no interior entre traços verticais.Destacada e harmoniosa peça de faiança portuguesa, valorizada pela datação, elemento fundamental para o conhecimento da evolução desta produção e o seu respectivo estudo. As datas, sempre em números arábicos, tanto podem indicar o ano em que foram fabricadas como assinalar momentos importantes da História ou da família nobre que as encomendou. É igualmente assinalável a original associação da decoração chinesa da aba ao modelo europeu do centro da peça, no qual o brasão representado, cartela simples coroada e decorada apenas com um ramo de tulipas, não tem características portuguesas mas será provavelmente do Norte da Europa, de alguma das cidades associadas à Liga Hanseática - pela semelhança a outros brasões da denominada “faiança de Hamburgo” - ou eventualmente uma encomenda holandesa ou de alguma personalidade relacionada com a Holanda.
