Giuseppe Troni, pintor italiano, tornou-se o principal retratista da corte portuguesa no final do século XVIII, desempenhando um papel importante na construção da imagem da família real.

Para além da realeza, retratou também membros da elite portuguesa apreciadora de arte, o que contribuiu para a sua popularidade e para a receção de numerosas encomendas de retratos e miniaturas.
